Our Services

We offer supportive services for survivors of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Human Trafficking.

We help survivors following a traumatic incident and with longer-term planning and goal setting. We use a client-centered approach, which means the client sets the direction, establishes their goals and objectives, and is empowered to make decisions.

- All services are free -

24-Hour Crisis Line
(209) 577-5980

Our 24-Hour Crisis Line offers immediate support by trained staff and volunteers.

24-hour Trauma Response

Advocates are dispatched to hospital emergency rooms 24 - hours a day, 7 - days a week, in response to calls from law enforcement or emergency room personnel. The advocate responds to provide support, advocacy, and information to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, or human trafficking in the emergency room setting.

Emergency Shelter

The shelter is a program that provides a safe place for survivors and children who have a high danger level due to domestic violence, sexual assault, or human trafficking. We provide all clients with food, clothing, and a place to sleep. We also provide case management/crisis intervention services, battered survivors support groups, and groups for children, as well as legal assistance with temporary restraining orders.

Human Trafficking

Contact our Human Trafficking & Housing Program Manager at (209) 238-7410 to get help and for more information.

Advocates

HAVEN advocates use a client-centered approach to services, which means the client sets the direction, establishes their own goals and objectives, and is empowered with their own decisions.

Services provided by advocates include:

  • Crisis intervention

  • Safety Planning

  • Peer Counseling

  • Restraining Order Assistance

  • Court Accompaniment

Youth Services

HAVEN provides services for youth (ages 5 - 17). Programs are designed for youth who have experienced sexual abuse or childhood domestic violence. These programs are with the belief that youths deserve validation and a listening ear, opportunities to express themselves authentically, access to creative outlets like art and movement, and guidance in learning appropriate ways to express their sometimes complicated feelings.

Peer Counseling & Support Groups

HAVEN offers individual counseling to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking, as well as a variety of support groups focusing on domestic violence and sexual assault issues. Peer counseling services are offered free of cost and on an appointment basis. Individuals interested in counseling may call our main office at (209) 524-4331 for more information or, for after-hours assistance, call the crisis line at (209) 577-5980. Alternatively, individuals are welcome to walk in at our Modesto and Turlock sites to meet with an advocate to discuss supportive services.

Safety Planning & Case Management

Advocates will work with clients to establish safety plans and provide resources. Through case management, clients can work with the same advocate from the moment they walk through the door to the time they decide they no longer need services.

What is safety planning?

Restraining Order Assistance

HAVEN can provide help with two types of restraining orders. A restraining order is an order from the court stating the person you filed against isn't allowed to do certain things (such as harass or stalk you) or that he/she must stay a certain distance away from you. If you would like to file such an order against a person with whom you had an intimate or dating relationship, we can help you with a Domestic Violence Restraining Order (DVRO).

We have not attorneys on staff and cannot give you any legal advice. However, if needed, we can prepare the restraining order paperwork, explain and help you with the filing process, and accompany you to court for hearings. Court accompaniment can be provided to clients on both civil and criminal matters.

If you wish to file against someone who sexually assaulted you, regardless of your relationship, we can help you with a Civil Harassment Order. There is no filing fee for a Domestic Violence Restraining Order or a Civil Harassment Order.

In order to obtain a restraining order through HAVEN, you first need to complete a legal program questionnaire. Once you have completed and returned the questionnaire, you will be scheduled for a legal clinic and start the restraining order filing process. A legal advocate will prepare your paperwork, answer your questions, and guide you through filing. Below, you can review the questionnaire to know what kind of information we need.
